And a Whole Lot of Pink for Her

I finally decided what to do with all of that rosebud pink yarn!

I had been going back and forth for months. At various points it was going to be a dress, longies, yet another pilot cap, a simple sweater, a more complicated sweater, a soaker, you name it. And it still might be some of those things, because I have a bit left. But the bulk of it went into this poncho.

This is the Fiber Trends Baby Poncho by Bev Galeskas. I bought this pattern when Galen was a baby and never got around to making it. Or more accurately, never had enough yarn combinations that I liked for making it. It requires a lot of yarn and every time I priced it out, I deemed it too much money to spend on one little baby project. Which is exactly why it was the perfect project just now, because I already had heaps of this yarn all ready to be used.

~this end-of-laugh, just-catching-my-breath face makes me smile!~

The pattern is actually designed for 4 different colors, but I kind of felt like that was too much. I mean it has so, so much texture already, lots of color on top of that just felt like over kill. So I did a simpler two-toned version.

I like the little buttons at the wrists, but the hood is my very favorite part!

you seem to just be able to pop out these gorgeous projects. honestly, how long does it really take you to from start, to wearing?

I must be the most, absolutely, slowest slug when it comes to knitting. I enjoy it so much, but I am a serious tortoise.

Melody,
If you have a chance, could you email me a link to the EASIEST fall/winter hat pattern for a 6 year?
Your knitting is so beautiful. You have inspired me to go beyond scarves, slippers and dish cloths.

Also what type of wool/yarn you would recommend for someone who is sensitive to "scratcy stuff"
Thanks

That is so adorable! and Mairi is looking as cute as ever! I like that you picked two colors, I think four would be too much also.

I lOVE it!! if it didn't require so much yarn, that's what I would want for this baby (if it's a girl). But being that it eat's a lot of yarn, I am sure I can find one of your other beautiful knitting projects to beg you to make me :-)

I finally had a morning to get caught up on all your posts. YAY!!!! You made Galen's wings! That post made me happiest. Although Ian on Stilts is one of the best things I ever saw, and Mari looks precious in everything all the time, even if she is so so serious. Anya always has that deep expression too... what is it with these pensive baby girls?
I was sad to miss blueberry picking this year. That was one of my favorite visits. I think of you every time I eat them though, which is pretty much a daily basis these days. You know how much I love you. You are in all my prayers and thoughts. Talk to you soon!

Beautiful...both Mairi and the poncho. I'll stick to my dishcloths and occasional scarf! No pattern needed (only because I have no clue how to read a pattern!!!).
