The Classic Ribbed Hat from Cheap Knitting Patterns in Araucania Nature Wool Chunky, color 138.

Based solely on the pictures on the Cheap Knitting Patterns site, I never would have given this pattern a second glance. But ever since seeing the one Earthchicknits made for her Old Man, I just knew that I would have to make it for Steve. It was just so, well, "classic". His regular winter hat was getting rather worn looking, so I decided it was time. I was so enamored with Earthchick's version that I probably would have gone for the very same brown yarn, especially since it would highlight Steve's beautiful brown eyes, but alas my beloved doesn't care for brown (I know, I know, I have trouble fathoming it myself). And I'm told that it's not polite to give someone a gift that you know they won't like. So, I went with shades of dark blueish gray, which is rather nice too.


And, as you can tell, this is obviously a very versatile hat!
