Juliet

Knit from Araucania's Nature Wool Chunky, color 135.

I thought this pattern was really cute, very quick and easy. And now that I said it was easy I'm going to look like an idiot telling you about how I messed it up! I started out making a small, but I must have been distracted by the kids or something because by the time I got down past the bodice, I had w-a-y too few stitches for a small. I ended up doing an extra row before starting to skirt where I added in a bunch of stitches to bring it up to an extra-small. I then worked the rest of the sweater in xs.

It really seems quite full enough though. It would be even better if I had bothered to block it. Even as is, it makes me look at least four or five months pregnant from the side. Why, oh why am I so drawn to empire waists? I love the look...can't help it. But they are not the slightest bit flattering on me.

The verdict? I'm honestly not sure. Steve doesn't care for it at all. I still think it's kind of cute and feminine and a bit romantic....though the romance is kind of lost when ones husband doesn't find it appealing, isn't it?!? Oh well! I'm considering it a bit of a birthday present to my self, since it's rare that I bother to take the time to make something for me. I'm feeling like it will be happening more often in the coming year.

Thank you :)

The word "Juliet" at the beginning of this post is actually a link to the pattern. Enjoy!

I think the top is gorgeous and you look beautiful in it. I have a love/hate thing with empire tops - I feel the same way that you do - feminine and romantic - yet they make me look quite pregnant though I'm very small waisted. My husband doesn't like these kind of tops at all. And my son, when I wore an empire sweater the other day, asked me if I was pregnant! Oh, well.
