A Visit to Grandmother Pine

Markers along the way

Some call her Grandmother Tree, others call her the Mother Pine, and until yesterday, I didn't even know of her existence. She lives in the woods, very near to our home, but she is set back from the paths that we usually frequent.

Yesterday, even though it was dark and gloomy with a constant light rain, we set out into the woods, with our neighbor as a guide, hoping to find her. And find her we did.

We passed a pleasant hour and a half or so in her company...

Climbing her boughs

Exploring her treasures

and standing real still, trying to listen for her voice.

Before the wind and chill drove us back home.

The woods are a magical place, and trees are especially magical! So many of my childhood memories center around them, what a special spot you have found in your woods!
