There are some parts of this costume that are a bit more about me then about the babe. I can admit that. I want to explicitly state, that I am not generally inclined towards dressing my wee ones up for my own amusement, but I think this one was harmless enough.
The parts that were for him:
- He loves being dressed up and was very excited about "aween" with his brothers
- I put a lot of thought into what costume would suit my sweet little song singing bird lover
- Having wings was sheer delight
- Having his face colored on amused him to no end
- He was warm and comfy and cozy, even outside on a chilly night
- He got to shout "burd! burd!" and "cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep!" a lot
The parts that were probably a little bit more for me:
- Did he really require an all-new custom designed hand-knitted outfit in order to be a bird? Uhm..hmm..well yeah....maybe not.
Hey, I stopped short at quilting a feathery pattern onto the wings.......
but only because I ran out of time....and I still considering doing it for dress-up purposes...

A long time ago I decided that if I was going to take the time to make the kids Halloween costumes and I could make it so that they were useful at other times (be it as dress-ups or everyday clothing), well then I should.
Besides which, doesn't he look just stunning, all decked out in chocolate brown?
