Ball-band bibs

I don't know what it is about ball-band, but I find it strangely comforting. Something about it being rhythmic, but not repetitive. I find it to be somehow meditative. It's the perfect little project for when times are crazy and stressful, completely mindless, but with enough breaks so that it doesn't feel daunting or like it might somehow go and and on forever.

I think I really like ball-band when used for apparel. It reminds me of smocking (which I am ridiculously fond of...), especially when done up in pastels. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point I use it on a sweater, or perhaps the top of some over-alls...hmmm....

Two sets, made out of good old Lily's Sugar 'n Cream.

And a selection of my Grandmother's vintage buttons .

One for us and one for a friend who just added a beautiful little baby girl to her family...

And here is the sweet little card I found to go along with them (sadly, it got wrinkled in my diaper bag), by artist Annette Rubino-Buckley.

I just chanced upon it displayed at one of our local co-ops and I thought it was very fitting of the occasion.

And, on an entirely different subject, the results of some recent rainy-day crafting...

Made from a kit that my dear Sister picked up for the boys at a craft fair. They loved basket making! I was kind of bummed that there wasn't one for me. I think that at some point we are going to have to have to pick up some supplies and experiment further. Because what I really need is another craft....
