on a book for Galen. This is actually supposed to be for his birthday. It's rather belated I know. Shortly before his birthday I decided that I would start making it as his present rather then stress myself out trying to have it ready in time for him. It just seemed to me like he needed a calm, peaceful Mommy far more then a new book.
So far, I have a basic layout in mind and I've gathered up all of my supplies.
This is the book that I made for Elijah when he turned one.

The inspiration for this project came from a beautiful book that was made for Iain around the time of his first birthday. It was part of a craft swap I was involved with. We got a lovely personalized cloth book in exchange for a set of mama pads, made by me.
The peas come out of the pod (they are attached to the book with ribbons) and have bells in them.
I once saw a picture of a tiny tree frog curled up inside a flower petal. I tried to recreate that here. Years later the boys actually found a frog just like that. It was smaller then Elijah's pinky nail. I have no idea how they even managed to spot it. It was the most amazing little thing.
I'm pretty sure that Galen's book is going to be less interactive. I'm leaning more towards beautiful pictures and interesting textures for a very tactile experience.
