"If I had a hammer..."

"I'd hammer in the mooorrning.... " or so I've been singing all day today. Ah, pity my poor husband!

We have been crazy at work with our March challenge, so here is the end of weekend update.

I emptied the under-bed storage thing that had random stuff in it and started filling it with clothes that Galen has grown out of, as well as some nursing bras that are just way too big for me now. This is good timing because I really need to re-evaluate what each of the kids has and what they need. Some of Galen's clothes are still in the laundry, but judging from the little I do have, I need to get sewing and knitting! I put all of his hats/socks/booties/etc into a photo box.

I sorted through the box of balled up patterns, folded everything nicely, tucked them into the appropriate envelopes and filed them in the file box I bought a couple of weeks ago.

I cleaned off 5 of shelves. They aren't exactly how I would like them yet. There is nothing on them that doesn't belong there and everything is at least stacked nicely. However, they probably won't stay that way long without some additional help. I'm thinking maybe baskets or something to keep stacks of clothes and stuff from toppling.

On to the really exciting stuff...This is what the west wall looked like early Sunday morning...

On Saturday Steve took down the walls around the stove pipe and ceiling boards about half way up this side. Sunday morning he nailed up a double layer of firring strips to create air channels behind the new ceiling.

And this is what it looked like by dinner time on Sunday!

The pipe is totally enclosed again and new ceiling is starting to go up.

Everyone is asleep now. It was a long day and by the end of it we were all exhausted. Steve worked so hard today. He really wanted to be sure that pipe got closed in, so that little fingers would stay out! He's so wonderful. I carried the littlest guy on my back all day. With all of the saws and all there was no place safe to put him. But everything is back in order now and I feel like we've made a lot of progress. It was a good weekend.

In knitting notes: I finished E's slippers, took the soles off of Steve's slippers, and felted them both with Rosa's slippers, a felt egg and a needle felted dragon that I made a while back. The dragon was getting kind of fuzzy and I wanted to do something different with it. Steve's slippers are a good size now, but Rosa's and E's aren't as small and thick as I would like so I'll have to get them in to felt some more.

I finally picked up Baby's Christmas Outfit again and I'm almost done working the button band.

I grafted together the top band on Quinn, but haven't managed to do anything else.
